Another report regarding the authenticity of the rumored iPad Mini arises. The Korea Times had an interview with an anonymous Samsung official saying that Apple was indeed “planning to release a smaller iPad, probably with a 7.85-inch screen”.

This confirms earlier reports that the Cupertino-based company is brewing a smaller iPad to compete with the Kindle Fire which dominates the smaller screen tablet market. The report also mentions that Samsung is the initial supplier of the screens of the new iPad after Sharp and LG encountered some difficulties meeting the requirements of Apple. This proves the mutual business relationship between the two companies despite the lawsuits and counter lawsuits filed against each other.

Samsung is said to receive $9.7 billion to $11 billion from Apple. These will come from displays, processors, NAND flash chips and mobile DRAMS that are used in almost all of Apple devices.

Only at an actual announcement at an Apple event can we know if the iPad Mini is real but according to these reports, there is a good chance that it is genuine.
