Mobile Phones: iPhone 4S’ Battery Drain Issue Common Solutions

Comments Off on Mobile Phones: iPhone 4S’ Battery Drain Issue Common Solutions

Many consumers have purchased the long awaited iPhone 4S. Even though initially disappointed that there was not to be an iPhone 5, many are finding they are pleased with the 4S. However, some users are having problems with the life of their batteries. Many of the batteries are having much shorter life spans than expected.

Some iPhone 4S users have reported dips of as much as 10% in the battery life over one hour. This occurs even with the device in standby mode which should be helping to preserve battery life. This is a marked contrast in comparison to Apple’s specification guide which indicates the battery should hold out for 200 hours.

In an attempt to solve this issue, Apple engineers have made contact with affected consumers. Installing a diagnostics file into the afflicted iPhone 4S models, they hope to determine the exact cause of the battery drain. Some found the battery continued to deplete even when some features like Siri and locators were off. Initially, some blamed the battery glitch on Siri. However, some engineers speculate that it could be in part caused by a contacts file that has become corrupted. While Apple officially remains quiet regarding the root cause, they continue to toil over the problem and hopefully will determine a remedy in the near future.

In the meantime, some iPhone 4S users have found some short term solutions to cause the battery to run out at a slower rate. For instance, some have disabling the setting time zone element can help. This will mean your iPhone will not automatically update to new time zones when traveling. However, it just means you need to be mindful of the change on your own as one would if wearing a wristwatch. Other users have determined that by syncing their contacts within iCloud can also help slow the drain rate.

This could have a huge impact on the future of the mobile phone; Dial-a-phone has more details on the latest handset technology.
